In an effort to better serve people viewing The National Gingerbread House Display, The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa has placed more than 200 gingerbread houses throughout the resort�s indoor public areas.
�Admittedly, we needed to do something to alleviate some crowding in the Vanderbilt Atrium with thousands of people coming to view the display during the holidays,� said GPI Executive Operations Director William Kelley. �This is the result of enormous growth of our National Gingerbread House Competition and we feel this new gingerbread tour will be more comfortable for our guests and visitors.� In recent years, the gingerbread houses were on display in the resort�s Vanderbilt Atrium. This year, the gingerbread houses will be spread out in both the Vanderbilt and Sammons Wings to allow guests and visitors a chance to see the gingerbread houses throughout the resort rather than just staging them in one or two small areas.
However, the grand prize winning entry and selected other winners will be removed from the display during Christmas Week as the resort transports them to New York City for its eighth straight appearance on ABC�s �Good Morning America� on Friday, December 23.
�There will still be other gingerbread houses located in the Vanderbilt Atrium area,� said Kelley, �But, we listened to our guests and visitors and we feel this will be a good solution to the great growth of the (National) gingerbread house competition.� For more information on the National Gingerbread House Competition and Display, go to www.groveparkinn.com. Following the competition on Novermber 7, the resort�s visual design team placed more than 200 entries in specially crafted winter scenes where they will rest until January 9, 2006.
Special maps will be available for guests and visitors so they can see where each of the displays is located. For example, the top ten winners from the teen category will be located at the end of the Sammons Wing. The grand prize winner will be located just inside the Sammons Wing sliding glass doors and the adult category entries will be located near the Heritage Ballroom.
